COMMENTS

The Minister for Treasury and Resources is supportive of the aim of Deputy Fox’s amendment. However, any decision in this debate to ensure provision of community facilities and amenities which have revenue implications for the States can only be an approval in principle, and will still be dependent on those revenue implications being identified and agreed in the Business Plan for the year(s) affected. At present there is no indication that this additional expenditure can be funded within the existing constraint agreed by the States whereby any additional spending has to be found from compensatory savings elsewhere.
